Garage door opener repair and installation

An opener problem usually shows up as one of a few things. The light clicks and nothing moves. The remote is dead but the wall button works. The door starts down and comes right back up. Or the unit is loud enough that you notice it from the driveway.

There is a 1-year warranty on all labor, on a repair or a new opener install.

Repair

We start with the simple checks, because a lot of "dead opener" calls are not a dead motor. Photo eyes get knocked out of line. A remote battery gives up. A limit needs a small adjustment. If a gear, a circuit board, or the rail is the real problem, we will tell you what failed.

If the door itself is the reason the opener is struggling, forcing a bigger motor on it is the wrong fix. A broken spring or a door off the track has to be handled first. That work is on the repair page.

A new opener

Sometimes the unit on the ceiling is old enough that parts and labor do not make sense next to a new one. We will say that before we start, not after. A new opener includes setting it to the door, setting the force and the limits, and lining up the sensors so the door reverses when something is in the way.

We do not list opener brands or prices on this site. Tell us whether you want a keypad outside, extra remotes, or a battery backup for when the power drops, and we will put that in the quote.

Remotes and keypads

Lost the remote, or moved in and never got one? We can program a remote or an outside keypad to the opener that is already there, when that opener still accepts one. If it does not, a new opener is the straightforward path. Bring it up when you call.

Safety check while we are there

We test that the door reverses when the beam is broken, and we look at the spring balance. An opener should not be the thing lifting a door that the springs are supposed to carry. If the balance is off, we will point it out.
